For each of the 102 low-income occupations studied in License to Work , the Occupation Profiles list the requirements in every state that licenses the occupation. The states are ranked by burden, using the same method as the national rankings, but readers can sort the tables by any requirement they choose in order to see, for example, which states impose the highest fees or the lengthiest training requirements for an occupation.
The Occupation Profiles also provide a definition for each occupation (drawn, unless otherwise noted, from the Dictionary of Occupational Titles at www.onetonline.org ) and each occupation’s rankings for the average burdens imposed and for the combined number of licensed states and average burden.
