NSVI- Rochester Vending

Rochester’s pilot program for food trucks, which began in May 2013, allows food trucks to vend in 12 locations downtown, each of which can accommodate up to two food trucks, for a $750 fee. Food trucks may also operate in 14 areas outside the city center for a $250 fee. The Institute for Justice has worked with vending coalitions to request clarification from the City Attorney to learn how the law applies to different street vendors.

In January 2015, Rochester city leaders proposed to relax restrictions even further and allow food trucks to vend in most non-residential parking areas outside the city center.
