Hakela Felton is an Activism Assistant at the Institute for Justice, where she primarily provides support for our educational choice work, Spanish language community outreach, as well as property rights and economic liberty projects.
She first joined IJ and the activism team in September 2019 as a Maffucci Fellow. Prior to joining IJ, Hakela served as a development intern for Reason Foundation, media relations intern at the Cato Institute, and legal secretarial intern at international law firm Morrison & Foerster. She has also volunteered as a medical translator with Hospital de la Familia, a medical foundation in rural Guatemala.
Hakela holds a BA from the University of Southern California in History with a concentration in Human Rights and Conflict and a minor in Business Law.
