Matt Bagnoli joined the Institute for Justice in January 2022 as the Director of Individual Giving. In that role, Matt is responsible for managing and driving strategy within each of the individual giving programs at IJ in order to ensure the Institute has the resources needed to continue fighting government abuse and the violations of the constitutional rights of everyday Americans. In his day to day, Matt oversees the Guardians Circle, Partners Club, Membership, and other mass-marketing fundraising programs, ensuring that they continue to grow and expanding support for the critical work IJ does every day. Matt also oversees the 4 Pillars Society, where he helps donors to strategically plan long term support for the Institute through a variety of planned gifts helping them to achieve their lifetime philanthropic goals.
Since his first job in development, he has spent nearly 15 years in the liberty movement at a variety of non-profits, most recently as the Chief Development Officer at a nonprofit educating high school and college students in the ideals of free-market economics and the importance of liberty. Prior to that role, Matt had worked in the development offices of the Heritage Foundation and the Mercatus Center at George Mason University.
Matt graduated from the University of Richmond with a double major in political theory and religious ethics. He currently lives in Alexandria, Virginia with his wife and four kids.
