Research Editor

The Institute for Justice, the national law firm for liberty, seeks a full-time research editor to join its strategic research team. IJ’s strategic research program is a unique initiative that combines original social science and policy research with cutting-edge litigation to defend property rights, economic liberty, First Amendment freedoms and school choice. The research editor will review and refine report drafts and work with authors to present findings in clear, accessible language; manage production of reports; and write and edit supplementary materials for a variety of audiences.

The ideal candidate will possess excellent written communications skills, a meticulous attention to detail, an inquisitive mind, sound judgment, the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, enthusiasm for social science and policy research and a commitment to individual liberty. Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree and two to four years of professional experience writing and editing for a general audience. Preferred qualifications include at least five years of editorial and writing experience and experience editing research.

IJ offers a competitive salary, full health, dental, and life insurance benefits, and a retirement savings plan, as well as a collegial, positive work environment.
