Has your property been damaged or destroyed by law enforcement officers, through no fault of your own? Has the government refused to compensate you for the damage? We’re the Institute for Justice and we may be able to help.
The Fifth Amendment to the United States Constitution requires the government to compensate property owners whenever it intentionally takes or destroys your property. But governments nationwide have been ignoring your rights.
When an armed shoplifter fleeing the police broke into a Greenwood Village, Colorado home and refused to come out, police laid siege to the home. During a 19-hour standoff, officers used explosives, high-caliber ammunition and a battering ram mounted on a tank-like vehicle called a BearCat against the house. The fugitive was apprehended, but the home was totaled. And the innocent homeowners were never compensated.
We fought back for their property rights and we want to fight back for yours!
