Are you a U.S. Private Vaults customer?
Has the government tried to take the contents of your box using civil forfeiture?

The Institute for Justice is a non-profit, public interest law firm dedicated to upholding Americans’ constitutional rights. The Institute represents all its clients for free.

The Institute for Justice is representing hundreds of US Private Vaults box renters who got their property back in a case challenging the government’s abusive search and seizure. But even after our victories in that case, the government continues to use civil forfeiture to steal tens of millions of dollars from box renters. To stop the government’s brazen cash grab, we are interested in speaking with the following categories of USPV box renters:

  • USPV box holders who received a notice from the government indicating that it was seeking to forfeit their property, who did not take any action in response to that notice, and who consequently had their property forfeited by default.
  • USPV box holders who filed a petition for remission or mitigation in response to a forfeiture notice from the government and who have not yet received a decision on that petition (or whose petition was unjustly denied).
  • USPV box holders who filed claims to their property in response to a forfeiture notice from the government and who have not heard anything from the government for more than 90 days after filing the claim.

If you think you may fall in one of the above categories, we are interested in speaking with you to determine whether there is anything we can do to help. Please fill out the form to open the conversation.
