Vice President for Development

As Vice President for Development, Beth Stevens is responsible for ensuring that the Institute has the financial resources it needs to carry out its mission and, as IJ’s donor base continues to grow, that our supporters continue to receive the information and personal attention that are the hallmarks of IJ.

Since joining the Institute in 2001, Beth has grown IJ’s fundraising from a staff of two raising $5 million a year to a team of professionals raising $40 million annually. She successfully led IJ’s efforts to meet three challenge grants that raised more than $60 million for the Institute between 2008 and 2015.

At IJ, Beth oversees all aspects of fundraising and is part of the Institute’s leadership team that has ushered in a period of unprecedented growth and achievement, including 12 cases before the U.S. Supreme Court.

Prior to joining IJ, Beth spent eight years with the grassroots taxpayer advocacy group Citizens for a Sound Economy. Her experience includes raising funds from some of the leading sources in the country, including Fortune 20 CEOs, private foundations, and high net-worth individuals. She holds a bachelor’s degree in journalism from West Virginia University.
