In 2023, Cities Work and the Unified Government of Kansas City, Kansas and Wyandotte County (UG) began working together to increase access to entrepreneurship. Over the past year, the Business Development Task Force, city departments, and Board of Commissioners have worked together to remake how the UG approaches supporting small businesses!
- Spring Cleaning Model Legislation – Kansas City adopted this ordinance in 2025.
- Legislation expanding the flexibility of the sign code.
- Legislation removing the special use permit requirement for Home-Based Businesses.
- Moratorium on parking minimum requirements for commercial spaces.
