In a case about whether a peaceful, unarmed protester can sue police officers who severely injured him, IJ filed an amicus brief to explain why the dismissal of all charges against the protester (through a pretrial diversion agreement) should not immunize the officers and their employers from liability. The Eighth Circuit agreed, holding that the protester can sue to hold the officers and their employers accountable; the pretrial agreement does not stand in his way.
