Carlos Pena is the owner of NoHo Printing and Graphics in North Hollywood, California.
For 31 years, the immigrant from El Salvador has run his business successfully and was hoping to hand it down to his son. In August 2022, a fugitive forced his way into Carlos’ store while fleeing the police and a stand off ensued. The Los Angeles Police Department’s SWAT team destroyed Carlos’ shop during the standoff. When he sought compensation from his insurance company, he was denied. Making matters worse, the city refused to pay for the destruction it caused.
Carlos has teamed up with IJ to file a federal lawsuit seeking compensation for the damage the LAPD SWAT team caused.
