Charles S. Brown

Charles S. Brown is a resident of Maryland and the owner of Rest Haven Cemetery in Hagerstown, Md.  He wants to own a funeral home in Maryland without becoming a licensed funeral director.  He runs Rest Haven with his wife Pat and their son Eric, who is a licensed funeral director and runs the funeral home at Rest Haven that Charles built.  Charles simply wants to own the funeral home he built in order to provide additional revenue to care for the gravesites in his cemetery when the cemetery itself is full.  He has been at the forefront of a decade-long effort in the General Assembly to reform Maryland’s unfair funeral home ownership law.
