Sherry is the co-owner of the smalltown paper Atmore News and a school board member in Escambia County, Alabama. When Sherry opposed an effort to extend the contract of the school superintendent, the district attorney and sheriff started a bogus investigation to pressure her into changing her vote. When Atmore News reported on that investigation, Sherry, her reporter Don Fletcher, her fellow board member Cindy Jackson, and school payroll supervisor Ashley Fore were arrested and charged with a felony.
Sherry is fighting back against the retaliation with a lawsuit that seeks to hold the district attorney and sheriff accountable for their unconstitutional retaliatory investigation and arrests.
