Ellen Hamlett serves as the Activism Associate at the Institute for Justice, where she provides support for the day-to-day activities of the activism team, manages the team’s online presence and assists with organizing and mobilizing our grassroots activists to defend their rights outside of the courtroom.

She joined IJ in July of 2018 as a Maffucci Fellow on our Activism team. Prior to IJ, Ellen has served as an intern for a NY Congressman, the Cato Institute, a start-up impact investment firm, and the office of a NYS Senator.

Ellen graduated from Canisius College, a Jesuit institution in Buffalo NY, in May of 2018 with a degree in Entrepreneurship and Political Science with a minor in Economics. As of August of 2019, she is pursuing a Master of Public Policy from Georgetown University.
