Avery Marshall and his fiancée Alisa Carr live in the small town of Willard, N.C.
In April 2024, their house was raided by a SWAT team looking for a suspect in a string of local robberies. But Avery and Alisa did not know the suspect and he had never been at their home. Police knew the suspect was driving a gray Nissan sedan and they knew the license plate number. Alisa also drive a gray Nissan sedan, but with a different license plate number. Instead of confirming the plate number, police raided the innocent family’s home, causing damage and leaving them traumatized.
In April 2025, Avery and Alisa teamed up with IJ to sue the Lee County and Pender County Sheriff’s Departments for conducting this unconstitutional raid, overlooking obvious evidence they were at the wrong house.
