ARLINGTON, Va.—This afternoon, the official X account for the U.S. Department of Homeland Security responded to George Retes’s recent op-ed in the San Francisco Chronicle describing his unconstitutional detention. George is represented by the Institute for Justice (IJ) and has notified government agencies, including DHS, of his claims of his unconstitutional treatment.

“Every time Homeland Security is caught doing something bad, the response is not to own it but to sell the public a bill of goods,” said IJ Attorney Marie Miller. “Thankfully we still have the judiciary in this country. And George has reality on his side.”
