PHOENIX—Yesterday evening, in response to a letter sent by the Institute for Justice (IJ), Gov. Katie Hobbs ordered the Arizona Department of Health Services to immediately enforce HB 2042, the cottage food expansion bill passed earlier this year. IJ Arizona Managing Attorney Paul Avelar released the following statement:

“We are glad to hear that the Governor intervened. The legislative expansion of the cottage food program that the Governor signed left no room for DHS to delay implementation. Homemade food is safe, there is public demand for homemade foods and, for many people, it’s a needed source of income that plays a key role in providing for themselves and their families.”
