ChiBrations
An artist-led media platform designed to celebrate and centralize performing artists of Greater Chicago
Contestant Details
Sam moved to Chicago 16 years ago as a budding musician and songwriter, eager to be part of the city’s creative scene. It took years of open mics, jam sessions, and wandering through cultural pockets before he found his groove. That journey shaped Sam, but it also revealed a gap later in his career: artists needed a way to navigate Chicago’s vast scene in real time. That’s when Sam decided to found the ChiBrations App.

The ChiBrations App centralizes performing arts culture across Greater Chicago, connecting musicians, poets, dancers, comedians, storytellers, and theater communities, while partnering with curators to amplify their neighborhood events. With map, list, and calendar views, it makes events easier to find while honoring the South Side’s deep roots in open-stage culture—born in homes, churches, lunchrooms, and street corners.
Since launching the prototype in 2024, ChiBrations has engaged 750+ users, featured 400+ events across 44 neighborhoods, and this year launched its first full phase. The next phases plan to expand into a true community platform with both social media components and artist-specific features designed to fill the gaps creatives face on traditional apps. Created by an artist for artists, ChiBrations shines as a hub where creativity is visible, accessible, and connected—rooted on the South Side and poised to ripple nationwide.
