Nappily Happy 

Growing up on the South Side of Chicago, Dominique quickly learned the importance of managing her hair. Throughout her childhood, her hair was one of her best features. It wasn’t until her junior year of high school that she stepped out of her comfort zone and wore her natural Afro-textured hair. She’ll never forget the bully in her 8th-period class who mocked her, calling her hair “too nappy” and a “bird’s nest.” Although those hurtful comments brought up many complex emotions, they also made her realize that the problem lay not with her hair, but with society's conditioning that deemed Afro-textured hair unattractive. That experience inspired Dominique to create Nappily Happy.  

Nappily Happy is dedicated to providing affordable, organic hair care products to the South Side community. Its mission goes beyond just hair care; it aims to challenge and change the misconceptions surrounding natural Afro-textured hair.
