R City Kitchen
The South Side's Shared Community Kitchen

Contestant Details
As a graduate of Chicago State University majoring in Hotel and Restaurant Management, Rodney always wanted to bring training and education to the food and beverage industry that he loved to Chicago’s Southside. That’s when Rodney started his first business over 20 years ago called Sanitized On Safety, a food and beverage consultancy.

After growing up and working on Chicago’s South Side, he knew there wasn’t a Shared-Use Commercial Kitchen space in the community where fledgling food industry professionals and home cooks could prepare food to sell to the public. He knew then that he had to fill that void. Fast forward to the early days of the pandemic, he also noticed a new trend of home-based cooks and non-compliance of food sanitation standards which prompted him to open a shared community kitchen.
In Spring of 2023, Rodney opened the doors to R City Kitchen which he hopes can be a springboard for chefs, caterers, bakers, and others in the industry who are looking to grow their business.
