Riley Grace Borden

Litigation Fellow

Riley Grace Borden is a Litigation Fellow at the Institute for Justice based in the Washington state office. Prior to coming to IJ, Riley Grace practiced trust and estate and tax law at a private national law firm where she received recognition for her pro bono contributions across a range of disciplines.

Raised on Whidbey Island in a family passionate about agriculture, animals, and the outdoors, Riley Grace directed her early ambitions on a career in professional ballet before deciding her strengths were better applied to advocating for individuals. After assisting in a solo law office tackling criminal and family law issues, Riley Grace spent two years at the University of Washington (UW) where she earned awards for her writing and graduated with honors. Afterwards, she attended UW’s law school where she received her J.D. in 2023.

At the UW School of Law, Riley Grace served on the Journal of Law, Technology & Arts and Moot Court Honor Board, as well as earned honors for negotiation and oral advocacy. She was a member of the federal low-income tax clinic for two years, facing the IRS on behalf of low-income taxpayers, and she made a range of pro bono contributions through the Lawyers for the Creative Arts and the Moderate Means Program.

Riley Grace is admitted to practice law only in Washington state and Colorado.
