I left Big Law to become a leader at the Institute for Justice. After graduating from Harvard Law School, I clerked on the Fourth Circuit and spent a few years as an associate at a Big Law firm. But I knew I wanted to do work that mattered—not just for clients but for the future of our country.
At the Institute for Justice, I’ve been able to take on some of the biggest constitutional law issues facing Americans today. I served as co-counsel in IJ’s landmark victory at the U.S. Supreme Court in Carson v. Makin, protecting a family’s right to school choice. I’ve fought for clients’ First Amendment rights when government officials retaliated against them for speaking up. And as co-director of IJ’s National Initiative to End Forfeiture Abuse, I’m leading the fight to stop exploitive government practices that take property from innocent people.
Instead of tracking billable hours, I’m focused on securing constitutional and civil rights for all Americans. In my years at IJ, I’ve done a job that I know will make the world a better place—not just for my kids, but for everyone’s future.
